Serenity for Founders: The Still Ground Beneath Your Success

Today’s wisdom comes from my observations during my holiday at my home away from home in Byron Bay, the quaint and beautiful coastal town on the North Coast of New South Wales in eastern Australia.
As I gazed at the ocean, the sky and the mountains… I sensed their stillness, their calm, tranquil, serenity. And then I observed the busy chaotic foreground teeming with people, cars, dogs and their owners going for a walk, children playing, vendors selling their wares and suddenly the energetics behind this juxtaposition became crystal clear.
It's very similar to what I see play out in the world of business and in the lives of leaders and entrepreneurs.
It feels like…
Something in you is reaching.
Always reaching.
For the next strategy.
The next metric.
The next quiet proof that all of this is working.
And beneath that reaching, untouched by any of it, there is a stillness that can never be disturbed.
It's a quiet and silent calm energy beneath the living stratosphere.
It's unmoving, it's still and yet it's deep and filled with infinite potential.
This is my way of living and it’s very much what I observed in Byron Bay, that the foreground is a part of the background which is still. And yet the background remains unchanged by all the chaos in the foreground.
From this level of serenity, clarity becomes organic, and when clarity is organic, wisdom flows easefully.
It's the deep exhale and a feeling of gratitude for no reason at all.
